Polyquaternium-10
Polyquaternium-10 (PQ-10) is a high-performance cationic cellulose-based polymer. Derived from natural cellulose and modified through quaternization, it combines the mildness of natural origins with the versatility brought by advanced technology. As a core conditioning ingredient in skin care and hair care formulations, it is particularly suitable for rinse-off and leave-in products, significantly enhancing the texture, usability, and sensory experience of the products.
Superior conditioning efficacy: It can efficiently adsorb onto the negatively charged surfaces of hair and skin, quickly reducing static frizz in hair and greatly improving smoothness during wet and dry combing. With long-term use, it also reduces hair breakage caused by combing and enhances hair toughness; meanwhile, it leaves the skin feeling delicate and smooth, reducing roughness.
Powerful moisture retention: It forms a breathable yet tight film structure. This film not only locks in the natural moisture of hair and skin but also blocks the loss of moisture caused by the external dry environment, preventing dry hair and tight skin, and maintaining long-lasting hydration and softness.

High formulation compatibility: It exhibits excellent compatibility with various surfactants, including cationic, anionic, and non-ionic types, and remains stable and effective in both aqueous and anhydrous systems. Additionally, it can increase the viscosity of formulations, enhance product stability, and leave no greasy or sticky residue after use, ensuring a refreshing skin feel.

Its functionality is based on ionic attraction. The polymer's positively charged quaternary ammonium groups are electrostatically attracted to the negatively charged surfaces of keratin proteins in hair and skin. This substantivity allows it to form a uniform, flexible coating on the surface. This smooth film smoothes cuticles, reduces friction, and provides detangling benefits. Furthermore, its humectant properties help to bind water to the surface, ensuring long-lasting softness and hydration without a heavy or sticky residue.
